Mitchell Corn Palace

Every year since 1892, the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, has been decorated with art made from corn. Here's the Corn Palace in corn mozaic:
And here's a more conventional view:

It's really quite impressive. Here's Chief Crazy Horse.

Still a work in progress. Here's the paint-by-number blueprint for an unfunished section.

And it's not just a palace, it's a gymnasium! The interior murals are corn, too.

Penance

I am a bad blogger. Really bad. It's already the eighth of September and I haven't posted a single photo yet this month. So here's a bunch of photos from Haarlem to make up for the long gap. Start with the magnificent ceiling at St. Bavo's Church in Haarlem. The date on the tower says 1520, but apparently it's even older than that.

A friendly ginger cat...

Public art, A to Z.

The barbershop at the foot of St Bavo's is nearly as old as the church.
